Patient Sitter facility: Lovelace Westside Hospital jobtype: PRN shift: Days department: Nursing Administration description: Lovelace Westside HospitalPatient Sitter - 1 day a weekJob ID # 25826A clinical position assigned to provide continuous surveillance of a patient. The sitter stays in the room with the patient. Must document observations as directed by the nurse in charge of the patient and report any changes in the patient's condition.Adheres to policies, procedures and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety.1) Provides constant observation and monitoring of assigned patients to ensure safety and prevention of injury.2)Courteously greets patients, identifies self, and explains purpose.3)Observes and reports to the RN all patient concerns or changes in condition; promptly calls for assistance as needed. Notifies RN if tubes, IV, catheter, Etc. become disconnected.4)Assists patient to restroom. Walks patient in corridor as needed. Accompanies patient off the unit for all tests or procedures. Accompanies the patient to other areas of the hospital for diagnostic tests or upon transfer to other units.5)Washes hands before and after patient contact. Promotes infection control. Follows isolation procedures according to the Infection Control Policy.6)Takes ownership of assignments; other duties as assigned or requested.7)Communicates and listens effectively with internal and external customers; effectively understands instructions and shares knowledge.8)Cooperates and interacts with supervisors, peers, other departments, and all customer groups demonstrating our commitment to �service�. requirements: Technical/Formal TrainingAbility to determine vital signs and complete care, bath, linen change, feeding etcCNA certification is preferred Previous patient care experience preferred.CPR/BLS required within the first 30 days of hire.
