185 jobs possible
Wednesday, June 08, 2011
A Louisiana-based nursing home and assisted living company plans to build a multimillion-dollar facility near Louisiana Delta Community College that could create almost 200 jobs, although the company declined to give specifics on the project.
Plantation Management Co., which is headquartered in Denham Springs, recently bought a 14-acre tract from the Luffey family on the southwestern corner Luffey Road and Millhaven for $875,000.
This spring, the Monroe City Council approved the rezoning of the tract from industrial to general commercial.
City Planning Director Joanne Poret said she doesn’t have details of the project because the company hasn’t submitted any plans for permitting, but she said the project could create 185 jobs.
Jason Bruyninckx, a commercial agent for John Rea Realty, brokered the property sale.
“The college really brought the company to that location,” Bruyninckx said. “They believe it can provide top health care employees to the facility.”
