Join The Wound, Ostomy & Continence Nurses Society As It Makes History

Healthcare professionals who specialize in wound, ostomy and/or continence care will have the opportunity to participate in a groundbreaking conference that combines the expertise of two premier wound, ostomy and continence associations, The Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses (WOCN) Society and The World Council of Enterostomal Therapists (WCET). The 2010 WOCN/WCET Joint Conference, Universal Focus on Patient Care, scheduled for June 12-16, 2010 in Phoenix, AZ, will highlight the most up-to-date patient care treatments, evidence-based research, and emerging techniques designed to enhance the profession. Educational offerings include sessions on the yet-to-be-released WOCN Ostomy and Pressure Ulcer Guidelines, transcultural nursing, evaluation of fecal incontinence, CMS updates and many other sessions of interest to nurses practicing in the fields of wound, ostomy and continence throughout the world. Long Realty sponsors school nurse training

Tucson, Arizona – When the Epilepsy Foundation of Arizona approached Laura Mance, Branch Manager for the Casas Adobe branch of Long Realty, about a program for Long Realty to support, she certainly stepped forward.  More than 600 children diagnosed with epilepsy attend school in Tucson and there are many ways in which we can help them fit into their school environment with greater ease. One such program offered by the Epilepsy Foundation of Arizona is Managing Students with Seizures. This curriculum, accredited by the National Association of School Nurses, is offered to school nurses by Neurological Nurses explaining aspects of epilepsy, seizure types, diagnosis, treatment, and first aid for the student having a seizure.

Nurses Hone Hands-On Skills at New Banner Simulation Center

A new $12 million simulation center will help better prepare both recent graduates and experienced Banner Health nurses for crucial situations.

Banner Simulation Medical Center, the largest simulation center in the U.S. devoted to medical training, opened in Mesa, Ariz. in October with a goal of reducing medical errors, and using simulation training as a model for nurse recruitment and retention.
