Prof picked to lead state nursing association

University of Indianapolis faculty member Barbara B. Kelly has been named president of the Board of Directors for the Indiana State Nurses Association.
An assistant professor in UIndy’s School of Nursing, Kelly was elected to a two-year term at the association’s annual member meeting in October.

School of Nursing Partners with Saint John’s Health System to Open New Center

Continuing a tradition of collaboration, Saint John’s Health System and Saint Vincent Health have partnered with the Anderson University School of Nursing, creating the Saint John’s Center for Clinical Excellence. The new nursing education facility features the latest technology in patient simulation: the SimMan® 3G, the next generation of patient simulators from Laerdal Simulation.
“Our partnership with Saint John’s Health System through the years has been extremely important to our work in nursing education,” said Dr. James L. Edwards, president of Anderson University. “We are especially grateful that they are partnering with us to bring state-of-the-art technology to this vital educational program in which we have such a significant mutual interest.”

Bloomington Hospital is currently seeking an Orthopedic/Neuroscience Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join the Clinical Education & Practice team. The CNS is a leader in the delivery of patient centered care utilizing evidence based practice at Bloomington Hospital. Prospective candidates must hold a current Indiana State License as a Registered Nurse and have completed a graduate program accredited to train Clinical Nurse Specialists which grants at a minimum of a masters degree. Certification in the area of specialty is required within 12-18 months of hire.

IU Northwest School of Nursing awarded $50,000 scholarship grant for accelerated nursing students

The Indiana University Northwest School of Nursing is pleased to announce that it has received funding to award five scholarships from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) through the RWJF New Careers in Nursing Scholarship Program. Grants provided through this competitive program will be used for scholarships to maximize diversity and increase the quantity of students enrolled in IU Northwest’s accelerated baccalaureate program. This significant national initiative, launched by RWJF and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), aims to help alleviate the nation’s nursing shortage by dramatically expanding the pipeline of students in accelerated nursing programs.

Bethel, IU, Indiana Wesleyan to share nursing grants

Bethel College in Mishawaka is among three colleges in Indiana that will share more than $500,000 in federal funding to increase faculty in nursing programs and train additional nurses for critical-need facilities.
The funding was announced Monday by Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind.
Bethel College will receive a $25,218 grant; Indiana University will receive $140,252; and Indiana Wesleyan University will receive $337,979 through the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services nurse faculty loan program.
