Nurse Educator of Tomorrow Scholarship Applications Are Now Available

Master’s and doctoral degree students planning to become nursing instructors at North Carolina public and private colleges and universities may apply for the Nurse Educators of Tomorrow (NET) scholarship-loan for the 2010-11 academic year at the college information site, CFNC.org/NET. Up to 80 new awards are available for the coming year, according to the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA), a partner in CFNC.
NET awards for recipients are valued at $15,000 per year for up to two years for master’s degree-seeking students and up to three years for doctoral degree-seeking students.

Wayne Memorial Hospital was the first North Carolina hospital east of Interstate 95 to offer Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan technology. Unlike most medical tests such as a CT or MRI scans, a PET scan examines the body’s chemistry - not just its structure. This allows physicians to treat cancer and heart disease earlier and more accurately. And for most patients, the earlier the diagnosis, the better the chance for successful treatment.

Pitt Memorial is a regional resource for all levels of health services and information.
The hospital is a tertiary referral center and provides acute, intermediate, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to more than 1.2 million people in 29 counties. In an average year, about 33,000 inpatients and more than 266,000 outpatients are treated in our facilities. More than 3,000 babies are born here in a typical year. Our clinical staff includes more than 500 physicians and 1,200 nurses.
