Local hospital opens new women’s health center

A local hospital opens a new health center, designed just for women.
Sacred Heart Hospital held a ceremony Thursday to mark the grand opening of its new Center for Women’s Health. The center offers the latest imaging technologies, procedures and care for early detection and treatment of breast cancer.

Looking to make a difference? Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin has a unique RN opportunity for someone with experience in training and development. As a Training Specialist, you will provide skill assessments and coordinate training for new and current staff, the majority assigned to Patient Care Services. Training functions may include, but are not limited to the following areas: healthcare, competency assessment, electronic medical record (EMR) application software such as EPIC Care, Tapestry and Cadence appointment scheduling, orientation for new employees, PC skills, customer service skills and CPR/AED.
Current WI RN licensure required. Five (5) years of relevant experience as a RN including teaching and/or leadership experience. Preferably, this experience will include both technical as well as non-technical training classes (e.g. customer service skills). Experience in performing technical and/or professional level nursing education (e.g. training and competency testing, nursing policies and procedures, and performing in-services) and designing educational/training materials is preferred.

The purpose of the evening is to honor registered nurses and licensed practical nurses involved in direct patient care who exemplify the highest standards of nursing practice. Nominated nurses must work in Wisconsin.

Marquette nursing college gets $1.8M bequest

Marquette University’s College of Nursing received a $1.8 million bequest Thursday, the largest donation in the nursing college’s history.
The gift was from former student Vivian Ann Hotuiz, a 1953 College of Nursing graduate. Hotuiz died Sept. 14 in Tulsa, Okla. She was 94.
The donation also comes at the same time when Marquette’s nursing school is gearing up for its 75th anniversary during the 2010-11 academic year.
