Nurse Kelley Marchette scooped up the newborn baby, his face shining blue. He wasn’t breathing.
But she didn’t forget her training—she shoved a tube down the newborn’s throat and began pumping air into his lungs. Within seconds, the baby boy let out a mechanical cry.
Marchette and her classmates are among the first to use wireless SimDemo mannequins—including the infant Marchette helped resuscitate—at Florida International University’s new health science facility, which was dedicated Thursday.
