Graduate of Shadyside nursing school leaves $900,000
Friday, December 18, 2009
Jane Pesci never lost gratitude for the UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing.
The depth of that appreciation became fully clear yesterday, when the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center announced that Pesci — the daughter of Italian immigrants from Blairsville and a 1939 graduate — bequeathed the school $900,000. It is the largest single donation in the school’s 125-year history.
The school, which graduates about 200 students each year, was stunned by the donation.
