Health department offers “back to school” immunization clinics for all kids, insured or not
Thursday, July 30, 2009
The Central District Health Department is trying to pick up the slack as some health providers stop offering vaccinations for kids with health insurance. Children are required to be up-to-date on their immunizations before starting school, but some medical providers are no longer offering immunizations to their insured patients, according to a news release from the Central District Health Department, based in Boise.
Some medical practices are quitting because of new requirements that they maintain separate inventories of vaccine for insured children and for kids who are eligible for low-cost vaccinations through Idaho’s Vaccines for Children program.
