Operating room nurses honored
Monday, November 09, 2009
Many patients identify their operating room nurse as the “nurse behind the mask”. However, their commitment and expertise is vital to the hospital.
This week is O.R. Nurse Week or Perioperative Nurse Week, and Beloit Memorial Hospital is recognizing these skilled nurses for their work and dedication.
“We have 15 operating room nurses and several support staff who provide coverage 24 hours a day,” said Shirley Fischer, Director of Surgical Services at Beloit Memorial Hospital. “Our hospital performs more than 5,300 surgical procedures each year in various specialties including ortho, GYN, podiatry, ENT, urology, vascular, ophthalmology and most recently cardiac surgeries.”
