UNCH Celebrates Nurses
Tuesday, September 08, 2009
Earlier in the year, older nurses at UNC Health Care in Chapel Hill, N.C., were honored at the Senior and Generational Excellence Program breakfast, which celebrated their knowledge, expertise, and years of service to the Hospitals and the profession. Each nurse was given a small token of appreciation — a heartfelt card with a packet of sage seeds (a living gift).
The SAGE breakfast and similar events have grown out of quantitative and qualitative data from the Mature Nurse Retention Survey. This multicenter research study is part of a larger initiative at University of North Carolina Hospitals to promote the recruitment and retention of experienced professional nurses by addressing their needs (UNCH has more than 900 nurses age 45 years and older).
