Indian Health Services Scholarship Program

To provide financial assistance to Native American students who need compensatory or preprofessional education to qualify for enrollment in a health professions school.

Amount Awarded: $Varies.

Number Awarded: Varies each year.

Duration: 1 year; renewable.

Deadline: March of each year (February for renewals)

Eligibility: Applicants must be American Indians or Alaska Natives; be high school graduates or the equivalent; have the capacity to complete a health professions course of study; and be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a compensatory or preprofessional general education course or curriculum. Recipients must intend to serve Indian people upon completion of professional health care education as a health care provider in the discipline for which they are enrolled at the pregraduate level.
