American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses Advanced Educational Scholarship To provide financial assistance for the advanced educationof nurses who are members of the American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses (ASORN) and interested inworking in ophthalmic nursing. Amount Awarded: $750Number Awarded: 4 each year.Deadline: May of each year.Eligibility: Applicants must be pursuing a degree in a nursing-related field and must show how this higher degree will enhance ophthalmic nursing. They must have been members of the society for at least 2 years, be registered nurses, have been actively working in ophthalmic nursing for at least 2 years, and be enrolled in an approved degree program or accepted to such a program. Selection is based on the applicants' professional goals, rationale for selecting a particular area of study; and impact of this educational pursuit on the art and science of ophthalmic nursing practice. Although the society does not require that scholarship recipients apply the funds to courses or work toward a degree in nursing, applicants who are pursuing a nursing degree receive additional consideration.
