Texas Outstanding Rural Scholar Recognition and Forgiveness Loan Program

This loan forgiveness program matches community funds with state funds to support a student of the community's choice in a health professional education program. Fifty per cent of the funding is contributedby the sponsoring rural community and the other fifty per cent is supplied by the Center for Rural HealthInitiatives. For each year that a student receives a loan for this program, he/she must provide a year ofhealth care in the sponsoring rural community. Applicants must be residents of Texas enrolled in a health-related program of study. Application deadlines are separate for fall, spring and summer terms.
