Thompson Scholarship for Women in Safety To provide financial assistance to women pursuing graduate study in safety-related fields. Amount Awarded: $1000Number Awarded: 1 each year.Duration: 1 year; nonrenewable.Deadline: October of each year.Eligibility: This program is open to women who are pursuing a graduate degree program in safety engineering, safety management, occupational health nursing, occupational medicine, risk management, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, fire safety, environmental safety, environmental health, or another safety-related field. Applicants must be full-time students who have completed at least 9 semester hours with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. As part of the selection process, they must submit 2 essays of 300 words or less: 1) why they are seeking a degree in safety, a brief description of their current activities, and how those related to their career goals and objectives; and 2) why they should be awarded the scholarship.
