IOM/AAN Senior Scholar in Residence

To provide funding to senior nurse scholars who are interested in a residency at IOM in Washington, DC.

Amount Awarded: $50000

Number Awarded: 1 each year.

Duration: 1 year.

Deadline: November of each year.

Eligibility: This program is open to senior nurse scholars who are members of the IOM of AAN. The project proposed must designate a specific health policy issue that is consistent with the priority activities of the IOM and the nursing profession; examples of possible projects include community interventions for health improvement; linkages between health care organizational factors and patient outcome measures; insurance coverage and future needs of children and families; the effect of regulatory changes on quality of care in nursing homes; and ethical implications of biotechnology. Selection factors include previous publication record, relationship between health policy interest and the overall priorities of the IOM and nursing, potential for future contributions to health policy, interdisciplinary experiences and previous health policy contributions, and communication skills.
