Franklin D. Boyce Annual Health Scholarship

To provide financial assistance to residents of selected cities inVirginia who are interested in majoring in a health-related field on the undergraduate or graduate school level.

Amount Awarded: $2500

Number Awarded: 1 or more each year.

Duration: 1 year; may be renewed up to 3 additional years.

Deadline: February of each year.

Eligibility: Eligible to apply are residents of the City of Hopewell and the following localities: Prince George, Colonial Heights, Petersburg, Emporia, Ft. Lee, Dinwiddie, Sussex, Surry, Greensville, Chesterfield, Charles City, and Varina. Foundation employees and immediate family members may not apply. Applicants must be attending or planning to attend a postsecondary institution and studying for health-related occupation. Both undergraduate and graduate study are eligible. Applicants must have an SAT score of 850 or higher and a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Letters of recommendation are required. Selection is based on the letters, financial need, academic record, extracurricular activities, and an essay on the following topic: "Discuss health care problems of today's youth and possible solutions."
