Nursing Education
Tuesday, March 03, 2009
My name is Rae Lynn Smith and I am currently awaiting decisions from
Samford and UAB’s School’s of Nursing. The only hitch, determining how I
am going to finance my education. You see, I am a divorced mother of an
8-year old son and even though I dream of becoming a nurse, I know that
without furthering my education, I will never be able to truly provide well
for my son.
I currently hold a BS is Biochemistry from the U of Wisconsin and my GPA
is 3.3. I know that I am capable of completeing a nursing program, it’s
just financing it!
I see myself finishing an accelerated second degree BSN program or
accelerated BS to MSN track and working for a year or more in a hospital
setting. Then I would like to return to school to further my education as an
advanced practice nurse, an NP or CRNA. After working in that field for many
years, then I would like to continue my education, receive a PhD. and become
a nurse educator at a university. This way, I can talk to students about the
experiences I have already had and help them to become nurses in varying
capacities.
All in the world I need is help, financially. If I had my schooling paid
for, then I would have no problem. I can work hard, I can sacrifice, I can
do the work, both in the lab and academic settings, but I can not do it
without help.
Please, if there is any help available that anyone out there knows about,
I would be most grateful for the information.
Thank you.
