Gates Millennium Scholars Program The Gates Millennium Scholars Program is open to African-American, Native American, Hispanic-American and Asian-American high school seniors who are U.S. citizens (or permanent residents). Thescholarship program will be administered by the United Negro College Fund which will serve as the fiscalauthority. The Gates Millennium Scholars Program will provide $50 million in scholarship funds per year,financially assisting a total of 20,000 economically disadvantaged students over a 20-year period,beginning in the fall of 2000. In addition to your application, you must be nominated by an educator andsubmit a recommendation from someone who is familiar with your leadership or volunteer work.
